or should i put them up for sale when they are really young, so the person who wants to buy one pay then i could neuter and descent it, then give it to them (ofcourse when its older!) ??!?!?!? what should i do?

You need two very important things to safely and successfully breed ferrets, knowledge and money. Buy some books, get involved with a ferret shelter, find an experienced ferret breeder who is willing to mentor you, and start saving your money. To avoid a very bad situation, not only for yourself but for the ferrets as well, you should only consider breeding when you're fully prepared.

I know you probably don't think this answer is very helpful but believe me it's the best advice you could possibly get.

Breeding Ferrets For Sale

A friend of mine and I decided some years ago that we were going to breed ferrets, too. So for nearly $400 we flew in 2 baby ferrets from a large breeder half-way across the country. When they were old enough, we bred them. First of all, unspayed and unneutered ferrets SMELL incredibly bad--especially the male--it was overwhelming! When they breed, it is quite violent. The male bites the female on the neck and drags her all over the place--she is very bloody when it is all over. The babies were born, and they are tiny little white things--so cute! Their color starts to come in a couple of weeks later. When the babies were 8 weeks old, we ended up giving them away as it was difficult to sell them. We sold one for about $35.00. It's OK if they're not spayed or neutered right away--they don't alter them in Europe until later. I don't think its' necessary to descent--they only release their glands if very frightened and it wasn't a big deal. They still smell just from glands in their skin anyway. It is important to tell the owners that they MUST have the females spayed before the next spring or they can have a fatal anemia. Males can be neutered any time, but trust me, you won't want to live with an unneutered male! Big farms like Marshalls can sell them cheap to pet stores because they have thousands of them. They alter and descent at just a few weeks old, and because they have so many they can do it cheap and I guess it's no big deal to them if some die. At my vets we charge about $150.00 for a ferret spay and about $75.00 for a neuter. Plus pain medication. The prices aren't discounted like for dog/cat spays or neuters, because over-population isn't an issue like with those species. After only having two litters, my friend and I said "ENOUGH" of this craziness, and we had our ferrets spayed and neutered and they became wonderful pets.

I'd do a whole lot of researching about this and have the facilities available to house everyone (you won't want them in your living quarters). This is not a profitable venture for the hobby breeder, so if you don't have the money now to take care of the kits, you might want to think about just having some nice pets. Also, having money up front before getting them is a good idea, because they do need vaccines and medical care, as well as money for illness and emergencies. Good luck! :)

Breeding ferrets is a very bad idea. If you were to do it, you would need a well experienced ferret breeder mentor. Breeding ferrets is tricky and VERY expensive. Breeding dogs and cats is easy compared to ferrets. They are very tempermental and the female MUST be bred at every heat cycle or she will die. If you can't afford to neuter your pets then why did you buy them in the first place? If you can't afford $100 to get them neutred, then you sure as H*ll won't be able to afford to breed them. Your looking at close to $1k a litter. Not to mention, male ferrets cannot be kept with other ferrets, they are aggressive. They also stink WAY worse then neutred ferrets. Not to mention, selling ferrets is VERY difficult. Pet shops will not take them from you since you proberly won't neuter or decent them right? You will be breeding more homeless ferrets into this world. Have you ever been to a ferret shelter before? You should take a visit and see the hundreds of ferrets that are squished into small cages because there is no room left! Please do your ferrets a favor, either neuter/decent them or give them up to somebody that can be responsible and do it themselves. Breeding should be left up to people that are in it for the better of the breed. I breed ferrets for conformation and temperment to meet the color and standard. I also show my ferrets as they prove to me they first meet those qualities. Don't breed your ferrets, you don't know what your getting into. DEBT! If your Jill is to have complications can you afford a C-Section? Those run around $1K, Can you afford the shots? Your looking at $500 total for all those. Can you afford QUALITY food for all those babies for 10 weeks? Do you even have the facilties to breed ferrets? Breeders will also not buy from you because they are looking for quality stock. You would be stuck selling them to irrespsonsible neighbors that think they can feed them dog or hamster food! Do your ferrets and all the hundreds of ferrets in this world a favor and DON'T BREED THEM.

please do not breed. i am not saying it because you do not have enough money i am saying it because it is wrong. it is an animal with feelings. think about how you would feel if you were put in a tiny cage and made to have sex with some random guy then after waiting 9 months having your poor babies snatched right out from under your nose. i wanted to breed mice but someone showed me the light and i am not trying to go all Peta on you but please do not breed. there are easier ways to make money and more humane ways..wanna be around pets go to a pet store for a job dog walk cat sit...anything but please do not breed!

I had this idea also and even located a breeding pair. The smell was HORRIBLE.

My advise is research your plans and consider breeding something else
