I'm an official "old person" because I am 67 years old. When I realize that I am getting into a comfortable rut, then I deliberately change the way I do things. If I normally turn the TV on and watch the news at 6 AM I don't turn the TV on until 7am or 8am... then I watch the Food Channel or something like it.

I spend 6 or 7 months a year living in my Motor Home, otherwise I tend to just sit in the house and let my brain grow grass. And, I never go back to the same area or the same RV park... I go someplace different each year.

Unfortunately, I am not the usual old person... But I know a lot of them and just seeing how stuck in the mud they are is enough encouragement for me to keep changing things so I don't get stuck in my ways too.

Yes, I do and the reason they are so set in their ways is because they have had a lifetime to find the right way to live! Senior Citizens are living information libraries! They have been there and done that years before the young people thought of doing it! There maturity is your guarantee that you don't make the mistake they made earlier in their life! All you have to do is ask them! I regard the older generation as the handbook on life. You get a handbook when you buy a new car! So why not get one on a new life? So use their knowledge to help your own life. Have a good day.

No I don't think so. It depends on the personality of the person, not necessarily that they are seniors.

I think boomers may be a little bit different from their parents in their senior years. For some reason, we are aging externally but internally we are still young and open. At least in some areas of our life.

I think for me change is a problem, not because I don't like change, but because it happens so darn fast. Geez, you don't even get to really enjoy something before something new has taken its place! So, I am kind of set in my way when it comes to technology changes.

You have to remember that seniors have lived longer and experienced more than the youth of today.....so certainly I suspect that some would be "set in their ways" which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
We learn from living and making mistakes. Sometimes the young ones will make mistakes and continue to follow the same path and miss the lesson.
I'd rather be set in my ways, especially if it's the right way, than to be constantly making the wrong choices.

Some are some aren't, depends.
I, long ago, decided to be like a willow tree, flow with the winds but retain my shape. Near a life source but still removed from the forest.
I have many youngsters as friends as well as oldsters and enjoy both, for we all have much to offer the other.

yes, most definitely.
they were born in the 20s
30s & 40s. they've been
doing certain habits for
60 or 70 years & thats what
they have grown to believe.
but children are more suseptible
to change...like peer pressure
with drugs theyd easily fall into it.
so i think in habits theyd be easier
to all of a sudden say i want to be a
prep instead of a punk now. or something like that.

Perhaps...but I prefer to think of it as been there, done that, make a choice today...when you have lived a full life (and I mean full), but the time you reach 66, you have done one heck of a lot of things...I certainly have, and I do new things everyday. Set in my ways? I think it is more...been burned and know better, so I do it this way. But I am open to new things, new ways if they are more efficient than mine.

I think it depends on the person. My grandmother is in her 80's and she travels, meets new friends and is up for just about anything. She is not set in her ways any more than most 20 somethings are. Her group of friends are the same. I know they inspire me to try new things.

So, I think it's more about the personality than age. .

Good question.. Thanks for asking it.
