Get the annual publication "Writers Market." The 2008 edition came out just last month.

They retail for about $30, but you can likely find it discounted at Amazon or on eBay. But even at full price, it's worth it.

There is no such thing as one set list. It is not that simple.

Yes, there are small publishers that will accept unsolicited queries - not manuscripts. But if this is really important to you, it is important that you get out there and advocate for yourself. Don't ask someone in Yahoo Answers to do the work for you. Go to a large library's reference section. Get Literary Marketplace and start searching. It takes a lot of time. You can go through the listings and find those who 1) Accept submissions and 2) Read your genre.

That is YOUR job. It is going to take some backbreaking work from you. But it's your book and you should do the work. That's how it works.

Also I would advice you to check with Preditors and Editors and Absolute Write Water Cooler's Bewares and Background Checks before you send anything to anyone. There are small publishers out there who are fakes and frauds. Others are in grave financial difficulty and cannot deliver what they promise. Again, it is for you to advocate for yourself and find out which ones are good and which to avoid.
