I thought it was different, and quite emotional type of music. A lot of fans thought Metallica went soft. Actually, it was good, but they wanted to experiment and try something different which is good. Can't stay the same mode of music forever, it becomes dull and boring. They were looking for a change, and Bob Rock did help them on that, and quite frankly James was lucky, he could have lost his singing career and the band too due to his singing style. He got singing lessons to help him sing better and saved his voice box.

my reaction to the Black album was the same as the rest of their albums.... I hugged the porcelain throne and then flushed it !!!!!!

unlike Eukodol, I don't think making music that, more than three people like, is synonymous with, selling out.
