the thermal fuse only controls the heat and not the starting of the machine....either two or three possible problems....1 bad start button...2 bad motor...3 one side of the 220 volts to your machine is out...these are the only things beside the timer that control the motor...the thermal fuses and heat cycling switch and high temp limit only control the heat and have nothing what so ever to do with the motor runninng

If the dryer itself won't start and tumble the clothes at least, then it's most likely the little thermal fuse at the back of the machine. I'm pretty sure Roper is made by Whirlpool now, same people that make Kenmore, Sears, etc. It's not tough to change if you can get the back off and find it. It's usually made of white plastic, with a small black strip of a different plastic material through the center, and two small spade terminals sticking out, one on each end. Usually only one small hex screw holding one end in the bulkhead. If you can find it, disconnect one lead from a terminal and check for continuity across both terminals, if the tester reads doesn't register any resistance, then that's the culprit.

Most likely, Corky is correct, but if the thermofuse checks good for continuity, it may still be the culprit. Remove the two wires and connect they together and see if the dryer now runs.
