use Amdro...or call the pest control people to spray as those buggers may also have catacombs under your house.

Since we have lost a lot of our honey bees who pollinate fruits and vegetables, ants have been responsible for a lot of that work. Keep in mind so you don't needlessly wipe them out.
I don't know about cheap but these people put out an ant killer that WORKS! It is not instantaneous, but effective.

Check out the pest control drop down menu.
Another (possibly cheaper) effective ant killer is
Black Leaf Forty or Black Leaf 40.
It is a nicotine sulfate/alkaloid liquid concentrate and you use it at to 5 times recommended use rate. Pour it on the nest (or entrance hole). Label gives all necessary instructions.

There are products out there that ants will track back into the nest, thus killing the queen and most of the ants. Borax acid also works and is cheap.

The easiest and cheapest is to go to the food store and buy some Semolina. This is a grain product.Put it in jam jar lids, and leave\around where the ants are. They love the taste, take it back to nest, but they can't digest it, and they die.Good Luck!

Use a mix of cinnamon and sugar. The ants will pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.

I sprinkle cayenne pepper on my lawn and it kills or drives away pretty much every pest from ants to grubs and fleas. I buy it wholesale online and apply about three times a year.
