i just changed a motor mount and the harmonic balancer. fluid level is ok. i made it all the way home backwards (i live on a mountain)

It sounds like the transmission...it's not uncommon for one gear to go out, and the rest still work for some time. My mom's car...the reverse went out first, but forward was fine. Funny story actually. There were five of us kids, and the ones who sat beside the doors, we had to stick our feet out and push the car to back it up out of parking spots and stuff. Even at sonic once....how embarrassing! Especially when you're a teenager. But the forward gears kept working for like a month. It's probably the transmission though. Do you know how to rebuild one? Or if not, go have it done somewhere. Cause the rest of it will probably go out soon.
