I call them Cheetos Patriots. A light dusting of imitation cheese over a fried something or other core. As opposed to real cheese.

I believe you may be wrongly profiling, how illiberal of you. I have some Lib neighbors who have one American flag and one unidentified flag. I don't know if they think they are more patriotic than me though. I'm conservative and I don't even own a flag, but I feel I am patriotic.

It is not measured that way. I don't have enough flags to fly on my property to measure my patriotism. Flags are only a symbol of our patriotism. You actually have to know the person to know how patriotic he/she is. Quit making stupid assumptions.

I would guess that to them, patriotism is all about show. To others, it is about what's in a person's heart - not in the number of flags he can fly on his property.
The display of the flag is a beautiful thing to do. There's something majestic about it flying in the breeze. But if it's done to try to show that one is more of a patriot than someone else, it's being flown inappropriately. If you fly the flag because you love the country for all its goods and all its faults and because you are proud of all that's good and not so good about the country, then you're doing the right thing.

suthrnlyts, why wouldn't you disagree with the president. this isn't germany of 1940. free thought and ideas are allowed here in this country. if he wants respect he had better show some. these politicians work for us.
sorry that i got sidetracked by miss wonderful. i asked a question once about that great american hannity having served in the military. (no, he hasn't, but he drove by a mail box once). i was jumped on. i think they hide behind flags, calling everyone who is against the war unpatriotic. they talk about freedom of speech, but won't give you any.
suthrnlyts:i think you are more vocal about your support than your disagreements. while i don't claim to have read all your answers, on the questions that we have both responded to you seem to pretty much follow party lines.

what lunacy! As a Conservative, I feel that any idiot can put out hundreds of flags and it doesn't mean that person is a patriot. Patriotism lives in one's soul and heart!

What an interesting question and quite 'baiting' might I add. I feel that working, paying taxes, voting, not bashing our President (regardless of how I might feel), are all patriot.
What is your opinion of patriotism? Feeding off of the public trough, raping the workers so that you don't have to? Leeching socialistic government programs, paid for by hard earned dollars?
Just curious.. :)
tomjohn, I disagree with our President on many things and I'm vocal about that. I'm not afraid to voice my opinion. There's a difference between bashing and disagreeing. Don't you think?

They don't. This is a misconception spread by leftists on yahoo politics. You can still be a patriot and fly a flag too. Notice all the flag haters giving me a thumbs down?
