I went straight for it :)
I think that we automatically become defenceful when race is a factor. We don't even have to know the whole question to immediately throw our wall of "Black Power" up!
I guess this is a natural reaction for us. Like a security blanket we would grab when we would hear scary stories about the big bad wolf when we were children.
Unfortunately, the stories of the big bad wolf is all to real to alot of us.

I believe they do this because they are so used to being stereotyped negatively and want to show people of other races how they truly are. As long as people are closed minded no one will be able to see a person past their physical characteristics. Thats the problem with people their unwillingness to know another person for who they are than for what they are. I found it interesting that you post a question on why black people answer questions with "Why do Black People...?", are you inherently trying to start some race issue on the net, or were you truly being genuine? Now that is the real question.

I am Irish and Native American with interracial family members, and I answer because I thought is might be some racist I could slam around. Most of the questions starting like yours have been racist, and I just wanted to help!

Good question! I'm so tempted to answer these questions defensively, but I try to ignore ignorance.
To Tiger... he's not being racist... he's making a point about the assanine questions directed to or about black people.

Usually questions that start off like this contains racist stereotypes of our people by most people that are not Black. I feel that they need to be corrected, so I answer.

African Americans are like anyone else of a different color, race or culture. They like to flock together with their own cultures--not as racists or for the sake of just being Black, but because there are comfort in numbers. Face it, no man is an island.

because it's asking black people to answer the question and mostly black people are the only one that will know the true answer.

LOL!....for the same reason those of us very obviously NOT....answer. We all want to throw out our opinion (get 2 points and hope for best answer)
Some of us really want to help and encourage where we can....but there are lots here just for the points.
