Real VNC is a variation of the family of VNC applications... Many different flavors have been created with their own features.

VNC enables you to view the GUI desktop of practically any machine on another machine over a network connection. A particularly useful characteristic is that it's cross platform... So, from any Linux, Mac, Windows, Solaris, BSD or most any other kind of computer you can remote into and do work on another machine which might be a Linux, Mac, Windows, Solaris, BSD or whathaveyou as though you were sitting at that machine although the machine could be on the other side of the world.

Just download and install VNC (doesn't have to be RealVNC, they all work with each other) on each machine and if necessary open the appropriate firewall ports. A default install usually will be both a "server" (the side being remoted into where the applications are) and the "client" (the side where the applications are not), so you can remote in either direction. Launch the client application and if all conditions are met you can type in the IP address or name of the remote machine and you will see the remote machine's logon screen.
