i am going to get a snake, ive done minimal research on each species and i am taking the entire day tommorow to do excessive research on the species i choose... i have a good sized tank , quite long, 50 gal. im not sure about the measurements, but it is ample room for a common kingsnake to live comfortably. now, im debating between species, at the moment i am completley in love with kingsnakes, rainbow boas and ball pythons, which one would you choose? (any reasons for your choice?) and do you have any other suggestions?

I would mark rainbow boas off your list. They have very strict care requirements that are difficult for a first time owner to get right. They are also little monsters as babies, and will bite constantly until they are about a year old. The slightest mistake in their care will cause them to die.

Balls are ok, but they are known to be stubborn feeders. They stress easily and stress leads to a non feeding ball. If you do decide to go with a ball, never buy from a petstore. Get it from a breeder that can guarantee it has been feeding well on its own.

Kings are not bad, but california kings are usually pretty nippy and unpredictable. There are several different types of kings. My favorites are knoblochi, thayeri, brooksi. They are all great feeders, but also great escape artists.

Some other snakes to consider are the rosy boa, hog island boa, and spotted python.

Of the three you have listed the rainbow boa would be the most challenging to keep. They get much bigger then the others (about 6 or 7 feet) and are strong animals with a bit of a reputation for being nippy. Their husbandry is also more demanding. They absolutely must have high humidity and access to soaking. Honestly, if this is your first snake I would recommend something other then a rainbow.
Kingsnakes and also corn snakes are much more manageable and easy to keep. The variety of species and colour morphs is incredible and offers a wide choice. The only difficult part would be choosing.
Ball pythons are docile and handsome animals but just make sure that you are getting one that is a reliable feeder. If you are hoping to feed frozen/ thawed rodents you may have to make a particular effort to get a ball python that is already taking that reliably. They can be difficult to transition from live to frozen food. Have fun choosing.

Cornsnakes are an particularly attractive and gentle North American snake and make stable pets. Ball Pythons come from South united states of america of america. i haven't the bloody foggiest as what's legal or not as pets down decrease than. you will think of, for the reason that Australia, in assessment to the different place in the international, has extra poisonous snakes than nonpoisonous that they had welcome constrictors like Ball Pythons, the yankee Kingsnake which feeds on poisonous varieties like the yankee Rattlers or Copperheads. Australia had enormous problems with the creation of the european Rabbit. So possibly they are particularly strict in recent times...
