It could be a sign of something serious. I would discuss this with your mom so you can get into see the DR. Severe cramping is not normal especially for 5 months

I had the same problem when I was twelve. The first day and a half of my period was crippling. I suffered through it until my mom took me to the doctor. There are precription drugs on the market to help/alleviate cramping.

Hi,
My college roommate had severe period cramps and was prescribed a special cramp pain reliever by her doctor. Tell your doctor and he/she will be able to prescribe something to help you be able to function normally even during that time of the month!

See the gyn, and if they don't find anything to cause the cramps, you need to get on the pill, girl. It will help those cramps like you wouldn't believe. You can go from all that cramping to 3 days of light bleeding, no cramps.

Drink a lot more water. Cramps are caused by muscle spasms, which are caused by dehydration. Drink at least two more bottles of water a day than usual. You won't even need a pain killer. Works for me.

Go to the doctor. It might be just a phase, but it can also be a cyst, which are easily eliminated with medication. But you really need to see a doctor before it gets worse.

Try birthcontrol, (I take estrostep.)
My cramps used to be so bad, I could barely walk around.
I've been taking the birthcontrol for a little over a year and my cramps arent half as painful as they used to be.

I was nervous about talking to my mom about it, but it didnt take much to win her over, and if your parents dont agree, try planned parenthood.
