You can do anything that you want. There is something for everyone in Thailand. If you are going by yourself it might be good to participate in a tourist group for a few days to get yourself acclimatized to the country. Then you can go out on your own with more confidence. Good Luck

I didn't, but I was wise about where I went, especially at night. I have traveled a lot, but you have to be safe no matter where in the world you are going.

I stayed at hostels and met other friendly tourists. I don't like the keeping to schedules of groups myself. I like the freedom of seeing what I want to see and when.
