I have roadrunner. Netgear router and netgear NIC card on my desktop

I would verify the wireless connection as the problem. Run a wired link between router and pc and see if the problem remains. If it remains it clearly is not the wireless port.

With Netgear products, I have seen the problem a result of that company's continual practice of introducing products to the marketplace that are not ready. They figure they will fix the fault in a firmware upgrade and users can then download the better firmware and the problem goes away.

I suggest you also go to the Netgear site, download their latest firmware for your router and upgrade your router with the latest they have. Never upgrade router firmware using a wirless connection to the router.

When you go to download the firmware, I would first remove the router and connect the pc directly to the modem as well. Remember to reboot modem whenever you change the device plugged into it.

try reinstalling your network card driver.
