um I believe the George Bush government is the largest in the history of America, so I guess you're question should be directed at conservatives, or do you not like to use facts?

We certainly don't. About the only folks getting any assistance from government in this country appear to be illegals.

And truly we already seen the mess created by government which governs least. It doesn't work. Government has a job and a role to fulfill in this country.

And it goes beyond spending every dollar on defense.

Why do you want to start up a new dark ages in the U.S.? The New Deal was initiated to give every U.S. citizen an equal shot at a decent life. It hasn't always worked. It isn't perfect, but before that money tended to accumulate in the hands of a very few, usually not because of their brains or ingenuity but because of their inherited wealth. With all the talk about free market economy, nothing in history would imply that giving more money to the rich will result in better lives for the poor.

The government role has been expanded way beyond the constitutional intent. We are way down the path of capitalism and corporate control of American politics. To reverse all of this and make every man for himself a real way of life is now impossible. The only thing we can do now is look at the future and position our self as a nation that will survive in the 21st century. If we don't we will certainly lose!

It is those who call themselves Conservative in this day and age who seem to need their hand held. And who seem plenty willing to sell their freedom for the comfort of mind. I agree with your statement completely, it is supposed to be the role of government to provide critical functions, and the best government is that which governs least. I agree so completely. So why then this allowance of the betrayal of our freedoms with the threats and fear?

Actually, most liberals only think that Welfare is for people who are for some reason not able to support themselves for a short period of time, until they are once again able to support themselves.

Although some people do become long term Welfare recipients, they are the minority, and it is not what Welfare was intended for.

The same reason that conservatives need to blame all of their screwups on liberals, it's a lack of responsibility.

Is that why you're not in iraq fighting today?

They think other people do.

They also are power hungry; the more "victims" out there that government can "help," the more power they gather to themselves.

They don't think that we have the capacity to figure things out on our own so they try to make a government that has its hand in all we do. Then they have to tax the hell out of us to get the funds to provide all of the entitlement programs.

Thank God!
That must mean that we can now trust the government to not try to instill conservative moral values on the rest of us.
