Anyone know of a website that promotes security tools that IT people use but promotes them for hacking. I want to include it in a paper I'm writing.

There's a lot of places that have tools, etc..

A known scanner for "testing" but hackers use is called Nmap, very nice.

Also, metasploit is another tool that "testers" use at

Nessus is a vulnerability scanner tool businesses and hackers use:

Those are very popular amongst the white/black hat community. There are a lot more found throughout the internet. I enjoy going to http://www.securityfocus.com for different tools as well that businesses promote but are either made by hackers or hackers use. All in all most businesses get their ideas from hackers, or hackers have made them for companies.

You seriously can't need this JUST for a paper. Try them out, they're a blast and will help you out in hacking, cracking, network security, whatever you want to call it. Good luck on the paper.

I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but try some of the papers and presentations at blackhat.com.
