Antivirus is only good as the files that have been produced.
in reality once a virus is released, there is usually a 24-72 lag before a antivirus is produced. if you update is not done before you recieve the virus no antivirus software will catch the first one.
The is a group of hackers that have banded together to release many viruses to overload the programmers that created the anti viruses.
The ratings you see above, are based on catching the already detected ones.
they all rate 0 for first line defense.
The best way not to have a email virus get you is use a email client like Thunderbird that is not tied into windows and can not automatically releases a attachment.
The other is to disable Java script but it really makes it hard to use a lot of sites if that is done.

You might want to see if Avast will work with Vista. Avast is free to use for personal computers. I recently bought a subscription to McAfee. What a pain that was, had to removes the Norton with the Norton Un-Install tool. I ended up going right back to Avast. Good Luck!

If you ever read Yahoo Answers you will see people writing for help because they have a virus. They then say that they have one of the products you have listed above installed.
It makes you wonder why anyone bothers to install anti-virus software since it doesn't seem to work for lots of people.
