please be able to calculate percentage(%) for a budget:

If John takes home $1200 each month and he spends $80 on food, $50 on entertainment and $450 on rent what percent of his take-home pay is John spending on each item?

the formula:

x over one hundred equals is over of
after cross multiplying you are given the following for food:
1200x=8000 divide 8000 by 1200 to get the variable on one side. x=6.66%

Divide each item by $1200 for the % !

Food is 80 / 1200 = ?

Entertainment is 50 / 1200 and

Rent is 450 / 1200 soooooo . . .

Now use your calculator to finish your homework .
