Never looked at it this way before, but damn you are right. I agree with this thought - sadly.

The Iraq war has no bearing on the housing market.
What /does/ affect the housing market are interest rates, and zoning laws. Interest rates are, in large part, determined by the Federal Reserve, and, Bush recently apointed a new Fed chairman, so, in theory he should have some pull there.
Unfortunatetly, the way interest rates affect the housing market doesn't much help buyers. When rates are high, they make it harder to buy a home, so prices don't experience so much upward pressure. When they're low, they tend to raise prices, since people can afford bigger loans. If banks didn't make home loans /at all/, housing prices would be much, much lower, but most people could only afford to rent, not buy.
Zoning is the other biggie. In general, localities collude with developers to zone land such that only a very small amount can be used to build homes each year (the rest is zoned for industry, agriculture or 'open space'). This limitting of supply keeps prices high - and, since developers buy relatively cheap land, then get it re-zoned to much more lucrative 'residential' they reap huge proffits.
So, if you want to go off on someone for making housing unaforadable, go off on Banks, Developers, and local zoning comissions.

Because congress puts getting relected before doing what is best for our country. Although 70% of the people Believe Bush is the worst president in history, most do not even bother to write their congressmen to express their outrage.
The news networks are more interested in ratings, than reporting on the lies and decit and abuse of power that congress is letting the president get away with. The news media would rather talk 24-7 about a soccer player

What the hell does the President have to do with the price of housing in the U.S.? He's not a Federal Wizard King. His duties are carefully laid out in Article Two of the U.S. Constitution. If you had read that document instead of one from the McClatchy papers you would have discovered that the President hasn't pumped one dime into Iraq. That money was appropriated by the Congress! No one in the Executive Branch of government can spend one nickel without it being authorized by the Congress. Even if a President vetoes a spending authorization the Congress can pass the measure again, the objections of the President notwithstanding and the measure becomes law without his signature.

The man dont want to listen to the majority of the wishes of his own citizens. He claims he is so concerned about the safety of his people but he leaves us without our military and spends our hard earned tax dollars like water. He thinks if we dont win over there that they will come here. If 12 million illegals can get into our country. I'm sure some terrorists can. The man is in a fantasy realm.

He doesn't control the real Estate market. There are going to be a lot of foreclosures coming up soon, so now is a good time to buy land for cheap. (It will get cheaper STILL!) Then after that, it will go up superhigh again and crash down again, just like the tide!
