Of course not. I mark a star because I think it is darn good. I don't have to get best answer every time. Maybe someone deserves best answer more than I do. I have also marked stars on answers to my questions because it was an exceptional answer but I didn't mark it as the best because it wasn't the best.

I don't take back.
If I give a star, I'm giving it because the question is really good and I think it was worth asking. Or, I give a star when someone is trying to win a bet or achieve a goal.
I don't take them back.
Once given, they are no longer mine.
