Try to see it not so much as a trust issue, but rather a liability issue. If, for whatever reason, there were a problem with the piercing, you'd want a professional responsible for making the problem right. You would not want, ever, to lose a friendship over a belly button. Just tell her "Thanks, but I'd be most comfortable having a licensed and insured professional do it. But you're welcome to come with me if you'd like."

NO! Don't do it! It's stupid. Unless your friend is a professional, then keep the needles out of her hand. They're called "professionals" for a reason. They are the highly trained ones, not your friend. Just tell her no, and that something could go reeeally wrong.

I got mine pierced when I was 12 and at the time all my friends were doing it themselves and when I told my mom about them asking me if I wanted them to do it, she told me to just tell them that she wanted me to get it done at a shop. Once I told my friends that they didn't ask again because they didn't want to get me in trouble with my mom.
