I've seen teenagers with crazy coloured hair. I fancy a couple of purple or blue or pink streaks in my own hair just for fun. Or would people send for the men in white coats? Is it only teenagers who can get away with being unconventional and not be laughed at?

My hair is yukky dark grey now, nothing of its original colour left. I quite fancy silver streaks, like the mum in the Adams family or was it the Munsters?

Kitty, why the hell should you bother what other people think? You dye your hair whatever colour you choose and enjoy yourself. If you get the semi-permanent stuff you can always go back if you don't like it! You're only as old as you feel (or WHO you feel!!) and I really don't think that you sound like an oldie. I'm going to be doing something similar myself - need cheering up. So, best of luck girl, go for it!!

I seem to be in the same age group as yourself, and I have long stopped worrying about what others think. I do whats comfortable for me. My hair is almost like my avatars and its very long and I love it. I grew it back in the 60s during my hippy days, and I wont part with it until I feel ready (if ever) to cut it short. I wear it in all different styles, people young and old have always got nice things to say about it. Its to long to dye so I leave it to do what nature intended colour wise, but if you want a total make over or just a slight change you go for it girl, why not have a talk appointment with your hairdresser and go over everything and see what comes up. Your only as old as you feel and I neither look or dress or feel my true age. I'm also a lot fitter than I was in my 20s, so you do what you feel you want to.

Being that I am someone who doesn't give a poop about what folks think- I went the flame red a few years ago & had a great time with it. I made the jokes before others could get the chance and now I am headed for a modern Mohawk look.
No men in white coats have shown up yet!

It does wonders for your moral! I've just gone back to being a redhead after a year of trying to grow old gracefully, which just isn't me. Oh, there's one little streak of hair that's doing it's best to be a bit Barbara Cartland'ish (pink). One consolation is if you don't like it - hair grows.

Another thing, where I live it's only the even older than me generation women who snigger, and the slightly younger ones follow my example - so it can't look that bad! (I hope). You have to learn to distinguish between the 'good on ya' smiles and the 'who does she think she is' smirks.

A little like your avatar eh? ...lol
Seriously, why don't you die it the colour that you had perhaps always wished it to be.
Look at what wigs has done for Barbara Windsor..She doesn't choose grey wigs or silver or blue streaked wigs.
If you still have hair; die it and let your hair down.
You are not a teenager and you have already been there and done that...so now you can be yourself.

Tell the hair dresser you want your hair "texturized" then get yourself some styling wax or putty and experiment with it.

Too old for purple streaks, too young for the poodle look, go short and spikey - you can work in some low lights and highlights, talk to you hairdresser about it. Purple might be over the top but cinnamon might work depending on your hair colour -

You go girl!! If you are not sure, why not try the wash out kind of colouring styling gel that comes in tube? You just put it where you want it and wait for the raves!! This especially works well if you have grandchildren (your own or borrowed)who can and will do this with you. Have fun!!

I don't know about crazy hairstyles, but I have decided to grow my hair long for the first time in my life. It's almost to my waist. Fortunately, my family has good genes, and I have not started to gray yet. My daughters absolutely hate my hair this way. They think it's not right for someone over 50. TUFF!!!

Um, according to your avatar, you're not the average OAP. My mom has some subtle dark red steaks in her blonde hair. I think a few LIGHT, SCANT streaks of some dramatic color would be okay. I actually like a little color. Go for it!

Do what you like..As you get older you don't worry so much what people may say or think. look at all the ladies with their blue rinses.A few stripes or a bit of tinting is only the same sort of thing but with a bit of your own originality. Go for it girl, cheer yourself up, don't worry about other people.
