I've never been stuck in a predicament like yours, but I say that if you really do love them, then you should be able to say it.
Or you could wait until they say "I love you," then reply with the ever popular, "I love you, too," until you get comfortable and then start saying "I love you."

You haven't gotten to that far with her yet I take it.
I remember my first love, I was 14. I wanted to say it so bad and I couldn't. I busted out laughing. It's so funny now to think back, but you have to just be yourself. Don't be afraid to say what you feel. That is so important.
The only thing that can happen, either she will say I love you too or maybe not. At least you will know how she feels.

I must agree with untchble. What would prevent me from just saying those three little words? Plan B would be for me to grab him by the front of his shirt, kiss him and see where that went.

Why wouldn't I just be able to say it? I would show them by always caring and being there for them. Remembering the little things that make them happy.

i think i won't help you cause saying "i love you" is not a problem to me, i just say it. and if i don't like the answer, i just move on....

i have the same problem! i try to give as many subtle clues as possible! hoping the person gets the hint.
