attempt to justify rape of young girls and women by saying that this is just part of someone else's culture and is therefore okay?!?!?!
NO THIS IS NOT AN ANTI-EASTERN OR ANTI-MUSLIM QUESTION - so don't bother with the insults. I am not specifically referring to those cultures. I am asking how people can possibly justify such behaviour by saying we should be tolerant. Which is what several people here seem to do, a hell of a lot.
It makes me sick.

Whoever is thumbing down all the decent answers is advocating that vile behaviour.

Hey folks, I did say this is NOT specifically about Muslims!!! In capital letters, to make myself clear! It is about misogyny in all cultures but specifically about sexual abuse.

Eric. So in that case you are advocating rape as being okay? It's PEOPLE LIKE YOU with the problem, pal.

If you do not condemn such an act you are effectivley advocating it, so don't give me all that nonsense.

aaade - sex and rape are not the same. It's not surprising that someone like you, who has clearly never met a woman in his pathetic little life, would not realise this.
PS. My avatar is of Matt Lucas you moron.

Yes Eric, I understand that. Everyone has different beliefs though, right? Some will justify their behaviour, that is damaging to other people, by using your argument that I am (or 'society' is) intolerant. What I do not understand is how you seem to believe that my attitude is a bigger problem than such forms of abuse.

Eric, I'm not actually arguing with your rationale. This comment seems sensible to me: "All I was saying is that this is a very diverse world, and that there is some explanation, somewhere, that seems reasonable to somebody, as to why this is okay."
I am arguing with your assertion that the problem is "people like you" (ie me)! Your answer there was simply combvative, you did not need to point the finger at me. I know there are people who do not share my viewpoint, but should I really sit on my backside and claim that sexual abuse is not a problem?

Eric - I apologise for accusing you of advocating rape, that was wrong.
