Is it wise to talk to the student who you reported for student misconduct other than academic reasons?

If you're the one who reported him or her, you might want to explain to the student why you did this, and maybe offer some constructive advice. It's hard to say whether or not the student will hold a grudge against the teacher, but why would he, if he knows you were the one who reported him?
