My Dad got us a the first Harry Potter book for Christmas. Soon after Dad was hospitalized for 3 months. We took the book to the hospital and read it to him always. Hey, it's better than hospital TV, and we all loved it. We haven't missed one since. With each book I become more and more of an adult.

No, especially when they produce adult copies of the books in Britian (the only difference seems to be the cover). There are parents and grandparents who got into the books cause of their children, and a lot of the kids Rowling would have been aiming at, kids about Harry's age when the first book was released, are now adults.

many adults read YA. They are fun to read and many authors can market their books in both worlds. Harry Potter for example. We were kids too! We had (and still havE) some of the same problems: mean girls, self-esteem issues, etc.

Just because you are an adult, does not mean that you al of a sudden change. Your tastes and personality may evolve, but that doesn't keep us from still liking these books.

I see nothing wrong with it. After all Harry Potter 4 won a Hugo Award which is given by adult voters.

I did when the first wave of Harry Potter mania hit and I hadn't read them yet. But now I'm a big fan. So I guess if that makes me weird, so be it.

No, it's not weird. It's great when books cross over to all age groups. That may be the ultimate goal for many writers - to reach the widest audience possible.

No but they are not the kind of books I read because I usually have a large to be read pile of books that I bought and have checked out from the library.

No, adults can read books too. They are written by an adult, is that weird?

No, because that would make most of the world weird. There are plenty of adults who enjoy reading HP.

No, because J.K. Rowling wrote them to be accessible to all ages. It's simple enough for kids to understand, but well written enough to entertain adults.
