I think it is your monitor is in early stages of breaking down as it has similar faults that mine showed at the end of last year. If it is still under warranty, like mine was, contact the supplier and ask for a replacement, if it is not ask a friend if they could bring their monitor round to see if it works OK on your computer so as you can confirm that the monitor is the problem.

Do you have a fan or other electronic device next to it that might produce EMI? If so move it away. Otherwise, minimize all your windows to get to your background. Right click on it, go to properties, settings, advanced button, monitor tab, and check that your refresh rate is at least 70 hertz.

Electrical interference is happening. Move it away from the wall, microwave, or whatever it's next to. If it is an LCD screen and you have a block of pixels that aren't working... it's defective or damaged, but wavy lines and flickering are common on CRT screens when they get close to almost anything electrical besides themselves. I mean, two CRTs will interfere with each other, but a CRT won't interfere with itself.

Did you recently put a fan, speaker, or other device close to your monitor? Electromagnetic fields can mess up the display. Just move the offending device away from the monitor.

well, how old is your monitor, because it could be about time to replace it. Also, how often is your screen on (do you use a sleep mode for the screen). It could also be, thought i doubt it, your video driver. go to the manufacturer's website for your videocard, and download the latest software driver for your card.

Is it a CRT monitor (the big and bulky ones)? They can get old and start to flicker.
