I don't believe it is a philosophy... To self-indulge is okay occasionally, but it should never be a way of life. It is important to take care of oneself, however.

The noun self-indulgence has 2 meanings:

Meaning #1: an inability to resist the gratification of whims and desires
Synonym: indulgence

Meaning #2: immoderate indulgence of bodily appetites
Synonyms: intemperance, intemperateness

Sort of. You just need to indulge yourself long term rather than short term.

Let’s say person A likes to have fudge and ice cream 5 times a day, and person B chooses to eat well and work out? Who’s more self indulgent?

The answer is neither. Person A is enjoying the pleasure of the moment, but person B is pursuing the vast array of pleasures that come to the physically fit.

The whole reason we love each other is because our chance of survival as a group is better than when we are alone. We ‘love’ because it’s in our self interest.

So what I’m saying is that self-indulgence is not only an acceptable philosophy to live by, it’s the only rational one. ……

……………………just go easy on the ice cream.
