When the computer is turned on, it makes the starting up noise but the screen remains green.The top of the screen is very green and at the bottom it fades to a very very light green/white. The shades of green are in perfect rectangles.
Please help!

try a different monitor. if that does not work, ur graphics card is broken.

Try a different monitor. Its possible that your monitor isnt working.

sound's to me it's been demagnatised. wich mean's cheaper to buy a new one. if it's not the monitor you need to buy a new video card.

Check the cable connection and make sure it is ok. Check the cable pins and make sure none is bent.
