The TRUE meaning of love(which comes in many different identities, of course, and the type of 'love' has to be defined).

I think the Q refers to 'romantic love' - first impressions I get on Y!A about this 'topic' are usually in the male-female relationship situations where an 'asker' is trying to define his/her relation with the opposite sex re "love". They want to know if they're 'in love' or not !!!

It's not easy to define, but the actual discovery of true love to me, now at age 62 and having been married twice(28 yrs this time - 14 the first), is that I can't imagine my life not including my dear wife - period !!

Everything I can relate to, even when I'm not with her(golfing maybe - such things), still revolves around the fact that she will be there when I get home.

I do not take HER for granted, ever, and am always concerned about her before myself as she is toward me.

It's almost like being able to finish each others sentences, per se. It's an 'intangible', but it surrounds us both. We will hopefully never 'get over it'.

That's LOVE !!

'Beaute et paix' - That was 'literally' a great answer.
You definitely ARE a 'hopeless romantic',
as I basically indicated in French in one
of my answers to your questions.

If you really love a person, you'd be willing to do anything for them, even put your life on the line for them.

my best friend and I are like that. I can't think of a single thing that I wouldn't do to make her happy or to save her life. I mean, she's so great to me and I love her dearly. It'd be terrible if she wasn't with me anymore, and I'd do anything to make sure that she's safe and happy and well.

What I'm trying to say is, the meaning of love is that, no matter what, someone will be there for you. Someone who'll listen to you and be happy for you when you make a great accomplishment; someone who'll let you cry on their shoulder when times are bad and you don't think you can go on; someone who, when things get tough, will look you straight in the eyes and say, "You're not alone. I'm here, and every thing's going to be alright." and you really and truly believe them; someone who, when you look into their eyes or hear their voice, you know that, as long as you have that person, everything will be fine.

There are so many words that go with love. Honesty, loyalty, honor, faith, caring... i could go on and on... Love is not a word that should be thrown around. If you actually love a person you are committed to them and are willing to give up your life for them. You would drop what you are doing just for them. Love is a sacrifice but most all of the time its worth it.

I tihnk the true meaning of love is caring so much about someone that you would do anything for their safety, even if it meant jeaporadizing your relationship with them.
