Today, I wore shorts, tshirt and a hoodie, topped off with my flip flops. I finish work at 11 p.m., so now I am regretting my decision.
Normally a jumper and jeans will do, maybe a scarf and gloves to keep the chill out.

Right now, we are in the middle of winter. The days are usually sunny and about 14'-17'C. The nights get very cold, depending on where in Sydney you are going. Ranging from 3' - -2'C in the western areas. You should bring a very warm jacket, long sleeve shirts and gloves!! We have also been having an unusual amount of rain lately...2 hours north from Sydney was declared a Natural Disaster zone with 6 people dead from flooding.....so I'd bring an umbrella too!!!

That depemds on your idea of cold. Temp is usuallu between 10to 20 Celcius. It is ALWAYS sunny. If you get cold easily and are going south them yes I would bring gloves jumpers etc. It hardly rains but bring an umbrella anyway cause this is the season that it does Casinos usually have a closed shoes policy

I was in Sydney last month and was surprised with the fashion. Alot of blacks and grey (however I come from Melbourne, so I guess I am used to the artist flaire!)
I would suggest a couple of trenches, both woolen and water proof, a sturdy umbrella, some gloves, scaff, and water proof boots! Try to steer clear of color, the fashion is very dull, but if you want to stand out, then by all means go for it!

It is cool to cold at night, mild, occasionally warm, during the day and should be mainly dry at this time of the year. You will need a sweater and a jacket. Smart casual is the rule in the casino which usually means no sandals. Check their website http://www.starcity.com.au/dir013/internetpublishing.nsf/content/intro
The forecast for Sydney is available from the Bureau of Meteorology here http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN10064.shtml
