What's wrong with having a big government if the officials are elected by the people?

Big government means poor people.. Less or no Freedom.. Do you trust all the campaign promises made by politicians?? Surly you're not willing to hand your choices over to the government and let them make them for you... If so you are definitely in the wrong place..

BIG government needs to be regulated by the people that are elected to to do this.Unfortunately,the politicians don't seem to adhere to that concept very often

I'm surprised you have to ask that question. The majority of Americans are against the War in Iraq, yet it goes on. Election does not gaurantee that the elected representative will keep the will, or even the best interests, of his constituency in mind.

The logic you're using is similar to that used in the USSR. Why have two parties, when The Party represents the people?
