He has sealed over 1,000 individual cases brought to "vaccine court" for MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella). All discovery documents and initial complaints are now out of reach of parents, like myself, who are trying to find out why their child has autism. The President believes that by releasing these documents, companies that produce such vaccines would be uneccesarily burdened with civil cases. What are your thoughts?

This has nothing to do with HIPPA laws - all cases are presented in an anonymous manner for collection of evidence and since the press release was from his office . . . he's the one that did it. Secondly it was his office, not my own conclusion, that stated it would prove to be a burden for future and or pending civil suits

While the president can not legal "seal" any courtroom proceeding he can classify them in the interest of the county. This would seal the proceeding till the the courts counter manned the order.

Why is the big question the facts that your points out show that the side effect are less numberous than those that you find in Asprin. With several million shot given we have 1000 cases that comes out to be less than .01 % having any trouble. The death rate and retarding rate for the disease was .1% so more childern are saved than hurt. Is it your point that we should let those childern die?

Bush could not have sealed these records. It's not an executive branch function.

Either the court sealed the records, or Congress passed a law that required the records to be sealed. Bush may have asked for that to happen, but the order is not one that he can make.

You can always petition the court that ordered the records sealed to open specific ones, if you have reason to believe the information would be pertinent to an ongoing case. Other than that, you can filed a Freedom of Information Act request to get at least some of the information.

I would love to answer this question, first I would like to read it for myself. Can you provide a link?

EDIT: Well, I found sources myself. It seems there are two culprits here. Bush and a federal law already on the books that allows these records to be sealed. This is a major problem that effects our nations health! No one should get away with this, the corporation or the leaders who protect them!
