Good question. And it's spelled "wiccan."
A Wiccan is specifically someone who follows the Wiccan path. Most of them are witches as well. Many witches are Wiccan, but not all.
You seem to have cultivated an unusual amount of sensetivity. While that may be a witchy sort of trait, it doesn't necessarily mean you are a witch. Enjoy the name if you like; there's nothing to be ashamed of there. Or just shrug and ignore it if you don't. Either way, it's a compliment.

First it's Wiccan. Second there is a huge difference.
A wiccan practices a religion called wicca. Some of them call themselves witches but others do not because of the negative conatations (bad press). Wicca is a Religion. They do prayers and rituals just as other religions do. Some also do spell work which is something that I will say no more about.
A witch is not neccesarily connected with any religion. They do spell work for spell works sake, to meet a certain need.

A witch or a wiccan? There really isn't much of a difference, however, a Wiccan is a witch who follows the path of Thomas Gardner. However, many wiccans don't follow the exact same thing. Witches may or may not be Wiccan. Some witches follow different type religions. Witches have such a wide variety of beliefs (we accept and respect everyone's religions) that we will describe ourselves in many different ways. Someone may answer this question differently.

Most people would say there is no difference however I disagree
I am a witch. I don't follow a religion. I do spells, rituals, tarot readings, etc.
However, a wiccan follows the wiccan religion strictly. They are usually in a coven.
I can tell you why I am not a wiccan. I believe in many gods. They believe in the God and Goddess.

Being a witch myself, yes I can. A wiccan is someone who practices Wicca, a religion that believes in nature and doing unto others as you would have them do to you (Check the law of 3). A witch is a general term used to refer to anyone that uses magic, regardless of which religion they are of. So in essence, a Wiccan is a witch. They are the same thing.

Okay, there IS a difference!!!
Witches are supposedly evil women who cast spells to hurt people and yatta yatta, black cats, Cauldrens, Flying broomsticks, jabber jabber... Not real.
Now, Wiccans on the other hand, are are quite real. They cast spells, but they work WITH the Earth and they work to HELP people... Thay can't fly, and have no relations with black cats...
And, if I Wiccan casts an evil spell, supposeldly, they die.
