In a civil law suit, you absolutely can get another lawyer. However, if the lawyer you have is being paid for by the insurance company, if you get a new lawyer, you may have to pay for it yourself.

Also, before you blame your lawyer, there may be many other reasons why things are dragging out. The other side could be stalling or playing procedural games. The court schedule may be backed up. Not everything is always the fault of one person, and your lawyer may not have any control over what is causing the delays.

So, yes, you can get another lawyer, but it may not help.

There is no legal reason you can't retain any lawyer you wish, as long as the lawyer is willing, and you have the money to hire them.

everyone thinks cases happen like they do on TV. its not a fast process by any stretch of the imagination. and keep in mind, you are not the only client and the other attorney has other issues. attorneys and courts are busy and things don't happen overnight. you can get another lawyer.
