When I first started taking metformin for pcos it made me really ill too, It took a good couple of months for me to feel better and I lost loads of weight. It does work though because Im nearly 14 weeks pregnant.

I dont want to get pregnant but I am on medication for diabetes that increase the chances of getting pregnant.
Initially was metformin but now is rosiglitazone/metformin. Its available in several strengths and trades as avandamet.
This info might be no use to you at all but if theres a chance its helpful then Im glad to help.
All the best

The other 2 drugs that do the same as metformin and don't cause the side effects are Actos and Avandia. Neither has a generic form yet so they are more expensive than the met but both are used to control the symptoms of PCOS--Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome.

I take Metformin now, and when I started, it made me really sick. But I kept on taking it because I wanted to conceive badly enough that I was willing to put up with the feeling like crap. After about 2 weeks, my body got used to it, and I don't feel sick anymore...

Plus, I'm about 9 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby now!!!
