Here's my ordeal.
I work for some CPA's and I make 11.00 and hour. Pretty good money. Problem is I am not very good at taxes and bookkeeping. I actually hate it. The people I work with, the one i share an office with particularly, is an a--hole. He doesnt do half his work and tells our boss I was the one responsable for it and I wont even have a clue what hes talking about. Ans our boss believes him..Why??? Becuase she is his aunt. Great huh? I work 50-60 hours a week and barely get to see my 16 mo old daughter.
Right now I have the opportunity to rent a booth in a salon for 55.00 a week. All the money I make is mine and I buy my own supplies. Walk in's are high and the ladies there are nice. I love doing hair, I think its my calling and I am quite good at it. Although the moeny wouldnt be so great at first I think I would be happier and my daughter would have her mom more often.

Well there are 2 basic things to consider in your question. How much is your happiness worth and what do you need to achieve with your income.Work generally requires one to be away from home but why make more only to just hate the time spent. One of the larger parts of a good job is actually enjoying the work.Crazy statement but true it is far better and less stressful to go to a job you enjoy. You may make less money yet you keep your self satisfaction and self esteem. When you get home you have more energy to enjoy your family. Not to mention your family would much prefer to hear about how good your day was. This in turn makes most things more enjoyable all together. So in the end we have to asses what price we are willing to pay for our daily life.Sure we all want to make as much money as possible but in the end what will this end up costing us.

I think you should run the numbers, make sure you have some savings, make a budget to follow for the next couple months, then make the move if it all sounds good. Your daughter deserves to have time with you and you with her, even if you have to cut back on a few things. Staying at a job that isn't meant for you is no fun and can wear on a person...
Good luck!

Honey, do what you love! Life's too short to be miserable. I have a college degree in nursing. Money's great, but the stress is killer. Now I teach middle school science at a small private school making 1/3 what I made nursing. Would i do it again? Heck yeah. No amount of money is worth making yourself that miserable.

I'm the office manager where I work....gotta handle all the same stuff, pretty much sucks. If I had a license to do hair I would do it in a heartbeat b/c this line of work is quite unfulfilling, and it would be nice to chat it up with clients. Plus, you probably would get to see your daughter. If it were me I would go for it, but definelty check where you will be with benefits! You don't want to drop all coverage for sure. other from that, go for it!

Totally go for the hair thing. I'm assuming you have a hubby or someway to still have income when times are low. Family and you're "real life" are way more important than money and crappy jobs.

Go with what you love. All the money in the world can't make up for a job you hate that stresses you out.

Do whatever you think will make you happiest. Life's too short to have a sh*tty job and miss out on your kids. But before you go, tape a bag of raw meat under that guy's chair. It should start stinking within a few days. >:o)

Do as your heart desires! This new gig sounds like a flexible job, and you'll get to spend more time with your baby. :) Remember, money is not always everything. Put your happiness first!
