First of all, about a few hours ago my mom found one on her bed and i think it may have come from clothing i brought at the thrift shop today, and i complete understand how you feel. Look I've dealt with this experience before. About 10 Years ago, i was sleeping in one of those twin beds, and i notice some animals that were lying on my bed and i told my mom. She told me they where bed bugs, and from my experience, it is one of the worst infestations you can become expose to. For one, they reproduce like roaches, they attack at night when you are sleeping, and they are so sneeky that when they are on top of you, and you move they stop moving, and then when you become still again they start running on top of you towards your neck. I saw this on my brother who was sleeping, and started looking animic. They suck your blood with long needle mouths, , they run fast on the floor, can grow as big as a nickle, and they love to live in your couch, bed, and any articles of clothing that may be near your bed, and they stain them with flood feces.

The only way my parents got rid of them was by spreading an illegal toxic powder which i think was bouroic acid, several times all over the furniture, and around the entire apartment and you have to leave it for several hours and close all of the windows, and leave the apartment. It is extremely toxic so wear something to cover your mouth and nose. Watch your clothing with hot water, and amonia, dry them in hot temperature for a long time. Keep your house clean with clorox and amonia. But first of all, get rid of your mattress and anything that supports them especially if they are made of wood. I swear that if you take them with you, you will not get rid of them. My mom had to throw them out and they were antique furniture. These animals were living inside the cracks and the holes of the furniture were filled with their round eggs. So if i were you, I will throw the furniture away and just take a couple of clothing with me to my new place.

By the way, if you let these animals live and don't do anything to get rid of them, they will start spreading from the bed and furniture, onto the walls, and then it will become impossible to get rid of them. Don't listen to the input about these animals eating your skin, that isn't correct, they suck your blood, shes probably talking about scabbies. Remember, these animals might transmit other infections to you. During the time these animals were living in my apartment, i was smart enough to always remain alert, my other family members would go to sleep, but i didn't. I would make sure, that i was cover from head to toe. Thats how come i witness these bugs and how they operate. Try to get a bed that is supported by stainless steel and cover your new mattress with a plastic. These bugs are brought here by people from other countries. Be careful....and good luck

You can't get rid of bed bugs completely because they live deep inside of the mattress. If you want to get rid of them then you will have to buy a "new" mattress.
Bed bugs are just a natural order to things and we actually need them because, as gross as it is, they eat our dead skin particles. Without them dead skin would be floating in the air and piling up on our furniture. Anyhow, entomology lesson aside, if you can see the bed bugs then you need to get rid of the mattress and your pillows. Linens and bedding are fine to keep because you can wash them in detergent and that will kill the bugs.
