I would cry tears of joy and forever be grateful to who left it to me. That person must have been banking. That's amazingly generous.

I work for an insurance agency and my cousin who works with me was working really hard to get the down payment for her house so she and her kids could stop renting and one of our customers anonymously mailed her $2,000. Not $10,000, but still really generous.

The world needs more people like that.

I'd make sure it was genuine cash money. I've heard of people putting a big tip like that on a credit card and then cancelling it the next day. If it was cash, I'd take it and quit the job.,

I would apply that money to my college education, buckle down hard and make sure I really did well to make that "gift tip" really worthwhile. And I'd take an ad out in the newspaper to thank the person who gave me the tip.

I'm sure first I'd freak out, thank God, thank the tipper, then settle back down. After that, I'd probably pay off a couple debts, refill my lacking savings, and get back to work. Never know when the next one's gonna come!

I would have tried to keep quiet about it. Now that everyone knows, she'll have to report it to the IRS and will probably end up only keeping about $7,000 of it after taxes. It will also lower her financial aid because she has more of her own money to contribute to college. She should have kept quiet and hid the money under her bed and spent it gradually as she needed it.
