I am a Liberal and along with some conservatives with whom I speak regularly, believe this is hogwash. However, if Mr. Cheney does not believe he is part of the Executive Branch, then he should not be able to invoke Executive Privilege and the both the House & particularly the Senate's ethics committee can investigate his office's actions over these last 6 years.
I suspect about the time the hearings are announced that Mr. Cheney might find the Executive Branch much more appealing.

Here's one congressman's plan to confirm that Cheney is not part of the Executive Branch. Illinois Congressman Rahm Emanuel has come up with the right response to Dick Cheney's attempt to suggest that the Office of the Vice President is not part of the executive branch. The House Democratic Caucus chairman wants to take the Cheney at his word. Cheney says his office is "not an entity within the executive branch," so Emanuel wants to take away the tens of millions of dollars that are allocated to the White House to maintain it.

Cheney is playing games so he can keep his VP reign secret and above speculation and prosecution if he did anything criminal!
I am a liberal Democrat and not EVERYTHING that this man deals with in his office is covered by Executive privilege because he thinks it's a matter of National Security!!
He doesn't want to be held accountable or have to answer to anyone!

I am a moderate that has a lot of conservative views with some liberal views... I don't know ANY lawyer who defends his argument; it is ridiculous.
If anyone says otherwise then I ask them to please name the lawyer and the source of him agreeing with Cheney... and I don't mean Cheney's own lawyers.
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard from this administration (and they have a lot). Does Cheney really think we are this stupid?

Outside of the fact that I am a conservative, this jagg off offends me as an American. His behavior is absolutely outrageous. I can't believe I actually voted for this guy. And for all the people who hate bush, imagine if Cheney was president.

I think it's bull.. and just because he is part of the Senate shouldn't be an excuse.. but it's possible he has found a legal loophole. If so nothing we can do about that this term.. would have to change the laws for if it ever happened again..

He is the Vice President and therefore part of the Executive Branch; his duties place him in the Senate but that is mereley ancillary to his primary duties.

As President of the Senate, he can cast a vote if there is a tie. That makes him a part of Congress. I am a conservative. Mr. Cheney can be in any part of government that he chooses. It is all right with me.
