I have this problem, I usualy remove all the spyware and malware from the computer. , I havent download anything for weeks, and i get over 300 infection, I had 3 anti-spyware. Defender Pro, Spybot, And AD-Aware, all three of them sucked. Defender pro can scan alot of regristy keys, but some of them are impossible to delete, Downloadware is my biggest problem. I can't remove it all, and even if i did, they come back. Spybot only detects up to 5 infections, but i kno theres alot more than that. AdAware constantly crashes, even while scanning, It found 281 infections, I managed to remove all of them, but when i reboot my pc. The computer crashes, and the same spyware comes back.

Do you kno where i can get to the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility.
At least defender can tell me the location of the spy ware. So if something cant be deleted I'll delete myself

I'm sorry, people say I'm the computer whiz, I wish they were right..

Any software?

Okay, first boot your computer into safe mode and then run your scans from there. You'll have a much higher success rate.
The folder"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" (many people will refer to it as simply HKLM) isn't a folder. It's a registry key. You'll have to open the registry editor (start->run->regedit) and then navigate to that section following down the tree on the left. It's best to note that editing the registry can be EXTREMELY dangerous to your computer's health.

A have a few good programs. Trust me, Spybot and Ad-Aware do work. If not, it's probably a virus. Download AVG free edition, that's the best anti-virus program. Then download AVG Anti-Spyware, which is a great program as well, but only a 30 day trial. My dad is even more of a genius with computers, and he said download Advanced Windows Care, and HijackThis, but BE VERY CAREFUL of what you delete with Hijack this, because if could be fatal to your computer. Good luck.

if your question is simply how to find "hkey_local_machine\" you should understand that is not a folder - that is a path in your computer's OS registry. To access it; simply click, start, run, type "regedit" to use the built-in windows registry editor. The rest should be self explanatory. Word of caution. Be very careful what you delete in the registry - a bad delete could cause your computer to never come back after the next reboot.

I use Ad-Aware Pro. It works better than the free version.
I also use zone alarm pro to help prevent anything that does get in from sending anything back out.

I would recommend you let the experts in the following link help you. Also backup your registry before you do anything else. If you delete the wrong keys your system will be useless and you will end up reinstalling your OS.

SUPERantispyware free from superantispyware.com also fixes problems in your registry. Stop visiting whatever sites you are visiting and do not open Emails if you do not know who they are from especially if they have an attachment that should help some

Don't use more than one antivurus, they can conflict rendering them useless. Instead try avast Home addition, it's free for non commercial use and is the best I've ever used. http://avast.com/eng/free_virus_protectio.html
