Just too early.
However, get a second opinion from another nurse. It would be more assuring if they concur.
Hope this helps.

It could easily be either one. Often times with a miscarriage, you don't even realize you have one, especially that early on. If your mom thinks she was 9 weeks, but the ultrasound said six, then chances are if she miscarried, she was 6 weeks when she did. If that is the case, then she may need to have a D&C to remove what is "left behind." Or if it is just that they can't see the baby??? Then she should wait a few days and retake a pregnancy test, or return to her doctor.

Unfortunately she probably miscarried. The same thing happened to me. I went in for an ultrasound with my second pregnancy at 9 weeks...nothing was there. They asked me if I could possibly have mis calculated the conception date. (no). I had the sack and stuff but no baby. At 9 weeks you should be able to see a very tiny (peanut sized) human shape.

It means it could be too early to see the baby or she may have miscarried. There really is no way for us to tell you will just have to wait and follow up with the Dr.

it may be to soon to tell, likely they will want her to come back in a few weeks for another scan. It could be very posible that she miscalculated her dates, or it could be a missed miscarrage, where the baby dies or does not develop, but the body does not get rid of it right away. She will need your love and support though this, so be a good daughter!

it might have just been too early. Don't worry, just make sure she follows up with them, and they will do another ultrasound very very soon to find a heartbeat.........the best indication is that lovely view of the heartbeating.........but you probably won't hear it yet!

if the sac is still in her, then she's still pregnant. At this point in time, the baby is still very small, very, very small.
