My husband has the original DS.. i kept using it to play my games. Main reason I bought the DS lite for myself was because I wanted the pink one.

When playing for a quite a while, the weight is actually a little noticeable. My only REAL complaint against the original DS was where the power button is. Its right above the D pad, which I kept mistaking as the start or select button when I play GBA games on it. The DS lite has the power button on the side. The screen is also noticeable brighter with the DS Lite.

Only negative thing about the DS Lite... when playing a GBA game it sticks out, so again, when playing for long periods and holding it in different ways it gets in the way.

It is a nice upgrade from your bulky DS. I found it lighter, much durable screen and brighter screen.
In terms of sound quality, old DS beats the Ds lite hands down. Is a personal choice though, if you are happy with your old ds I don't see a necessity for you to get the DS lite.

It depends on what you like, really. Most people like the smaller size and brighter screen the Lite offers, but other people are more comfortable with the bigger size and the fact that gba games don't stick out on the Regular DS. I like to keep my DS in my purse, so the smaller size is better for me. But my husband carries his in his work bag, and has bigger hands than me, so he has the older version.

yes it is because the ds lite you can get more stuff for it and its lighter and more compact and it has a brighter screen

Yes. As the name implies the is lighter and it weighs less. I've found that it's easier to hold and online functions seem better. Also the microphone works better.

YES! lighter, of course, and lets you play original games in it! like GBC games.
