I was totally surprised when I had to be induced because of low amniotic fluid levels. My labor did not progress so then I had a c-section. I did not know what to expect.
C-section is major surgery and has some risks, but sometimes it's necessary because of complications. They will give you anesthesia so you won't feel anything. The surgery is pretty quick - they get the baby out fast. You will have to go into recovery for several hours so you can't be with your baby for a while.
When you have a c-section your milk will come in late - just in case you are planning on nursing.
All the best to you! I'm sure everything will be fine. Doctors perform many c-sections and are very skilled and experienced. Here's wishing you a happy birth and quick recovery!

It will all be ok. I had my first c-section about 9 months ago because I had gotten pre-eclampsia(?) and my blood pressure was 180/160. My baby and I should have both died, according to the 7 doctors in the delivery room at Vanderbilt. I was rushed by ambulance after a routine doctor's visit. Callaway was born 10 week early and she had to stay for month in the hospital. So, don't be scared. It's all for the safety of you and the baby. And DO NOT forget, it'll be easier on you if you get up and move around by yourself as soon as the staff will let you. My c-section was a breeze because I refused to lay down for long periods of time or to let anyone help me do anything that was not out of reason...like going to the restroom. Good Luck!

I haven't had a C-section but I have had a few surgeries. I would just keep telling myself that this is something that these people do probably daily-if not more. The good thing about a c-section is that you are still awake so for some reason that would comfort me. Take comfort that millions of women go through this at any given time and I haven't heard of any times that something has gone wrong. I would take some time to pray to God to put your mind at ease and to give the surgeons wisdom. Prayer helps-try it.

How exciting, and a little intimidating! I can understand being scared, I was terrified each time I checked in to the hospital to deliver my kids. Have faith, the doctors know what they are doing. Soon enough you will be holding your blessed baby...Congratulations! I would recommend making sure every thing is ready for baby at home, get your home ready for you to be out of commission for a while, and rest as much as you can! Best wishes:)

The good thing is you know in advance so you can prepare for it. You really need to calm yourself. I had to have an emergency c section and I was terrified and it made the whole experience horrible! Have your doctor explain the procedure to you. It will make you feel a lot better if you know what your going to have done! Good Luck!

Hi there....
I had a section with our daughter three years ago.
Relax, it's not that bad. It's very rare for anything to go
wrong now a days. You will go in and they will start an IV.
Put in a spinal block, walk you to the theatre. Hook you up
to some monitors. Then they will let your Husband come in.
Congratulations.

Stay calm--getting upset will only make things worse. You should be fine. I haven't had a C-Section but I have had many surgeries (I have scoliosis and had several complications) and as long as you follow dr orders as to the healing process you will be fine. Just remember, don't over do it!!
