I am 34 and defiantly a Xer. I simply do not like baby boomers. They are very high on themselves and their generation but I can not see any of the great things they have done. As a generation if I had to generalize in one word about them it would be that they were Selfish. They have viewed the world in terms of power, money, and things. The ironic part is they truly believe in their generation’s greatness and how much better they have made the world for everyone else. I believe as time passes they will go down as a generation that sold their kids and grandkids tomorrow for their today. The Xers are truly a generation searching for the “something more” in life. We like the money, power, and things but are a little less sure if we are willing to purse it at any cost. Xers are not team players and a generation that has definitely bought into the idea that if you do not feel good or look good there is a medical treatment for it. In many ways we are not so different than the baby boomers except that we know the evils of that way and are not sure if we care enough to do anything about it. The Gen Yers, well who knows. They are seem to be less like the Baby boomers than the Xers but it is too early to tell what they will do.

I agree about the Baby Boom generation. Not so sure about the rest/.

I'm 37 and consider myself definitely not a BB, or an X and certainly not a Y.
So, in not labeling myself into any one generation I look at each objectively; I can find the bad/unhealthy/shallow in both, as well as I can find the good. Although I don't think any particular generation has "viewed the world in terms of power, money, and things." any more than any other generation. It's a combination of all the players that keep the world revolving. If you are lucky enough to identify yourself within a generation, then you should be proud to be a part of something, whatever it may have been. It's that sense of pride in something that keeps people progressing.

I'm a Yer...barely. The BB generation is very traditional in a lot of ways, the Xers tend to be a little spoiled and don't understand why life seems 'so hard' since they were brought up in the 'have everything-a great career and a great family' time of our society. The Yers are in some ways even more spoiled and brought up with the techno generation BUT in the Yers defense they are very good at apply the technological revolution to practical life and career.

Well I had to stop and look at what I would fall into. According to Wiki I fall into both categories. I'm either dead center for the X generation (1961 to 1981) or one of the eldest for the Y generation (1976 to 2000). I was born in 1977. Since I'm not certain were I fall I will just tell you what I believe and let you decide what I am. But let it be known that labeling me won't change me.

This is what I know/believe. I do the best I can with what I have. I expect my elders, my peers, and my juniors to do the same thing. I am lenient on mistakes, but not of willful ignorance. I expect everyone to take personal accountability for themselves and stop trying to blame others for their poor choices and bad luck. I'm sick of whiners and pity parties. Suck it up and move on! Life isn't fair and whoever told you it was was trying to sell you something. If people want change it is up to them to change what they don't like. Not waiting around for someone else to change it. Take action! Be and active participant in life! I expect people to be respectful of all life and all ideas/concepts but willing to tell it like it is. All of the soft language and PC wording can go shove it. I've never pulled a punch or cut much slack and I don't plan on starting now.

I'm Gen Y

I am both proud and disgraced at our generation

We're often very active in our community, then others all they care about are video games.

one of my parents is a baby boomer, the other Gen X.

i don't get along with my gen X mom that well. we're a bit different. but my BB dad is great and we get along very well.

Overall, i think my gen is great.

Gen X here. I thought we were lazy, but Generation Y'ers take the cake. MAN, YOU ALL ARE A BUNCH OF LAZY, COMPLACENT PEOPLE!!!

Hey, and very well said. I agree with you. Xers want more, and are willing to work for it. Yers think they deserve more just because they're alive.

X baby at 37. I have nothing against th BB except for the fact they are going to suck our Social Security System dry. The Y generation seems to be the blame everyone but their selves for any and all of their problems. LAZY group of people.
