As a Yankee fan I love AROD. The only knock against him since he joined the Yankees was choking when the game is on the line. He has erased that so far this year. He is batting over .500 in the 9th inning. If the Yankees make the playoffs this year I think he will come up huge like Bonds did in 02 when he finally broke out of his playoff slump.
I also don't fault him for wanting to opt out of his contract. I think everyone would do the same. I also think he will stay a Yankee because no one else can afford him. Now they just need to get some dang pticers that are under 40 years old.

Actually i do. And I am not just saying this because he is having a terrific season. I stuck with him through last year and his first season on the yankees, which were both subpar seasons (for him, at least). I was his fan when he was on the Rangers and on the Mariners. He is an incredible player and an underrated defensive player. yes, I know I'm probably the first person to say anything is underrated about A-rod, but seriously-everybody considers Jeter such an amazing defensive shortstop but A-Rod was a better shortstop than Derek. A-Rod also has the exact same career fielding percentage as Jeter (.975) and would have had a better one if he hadn't been a team player and played third base (not his natural position) for the last few years. Yet Jeter has one more Gold Glove award than A-Rod.

Of all the controversy and criticism about A-Rod:

For one thing, he doesn't ALWAYS choke in the postseason. In 2005 and 2006 he has posted a sub .200 batting average, but he wasn't the only Yankee to do that bad, but he served as the scapegoat. In 2004, his first season with the Yankees, he did well in the postseason. In fact, you could say as well as VERY well. In the 20004 ALDS, he was probably the most pivotal player. In the famous 2004 ALCS with the Red Sox he did decently during the Yankee wins. He was batting.320 so far for that postseason. yes, then he did bad-but so did the WHOLE Yankee team. Yes, including Jeter, the postseason hero.

And for hitting in the cluth-A'Rod is actually prett clutch, and I'm not talking about only this season. Contrary to popular belief, no, he doesn't homer only when his team is up by ten runs. In 2006, his ''bad" season- he batted .474 with the bases loaded, with an OBP of.500.

Also, for the stuff about cheating on his wife-c'mon guys. A TON of athletes do that. Vladdy has had six children with five different women but everybody seems to respect the Dominican and goes on about how "cool" he is and what a good character he is. Plus, I think things are blown WAY out of proportion in New York.

I'm not saying A-Rod's an angel but because he is in the spotlight so many times he gets a ton of undeserved bad press. I'm staying by him through thick and thin and I think the Yankee fans that boo him when he's going through a bad slump need to grow up and start supporting their BEST player and what may turn out to be the best baseball hitter in history if they want him to keep on carrying the Yankees on his back like he's been doing the whole season so far.

Run-on sentence^^.

Yes i do like A-Rod. Now i'm not just saying this because he's having such an amazing season. Ever since A-Rod came to us in 2004 he has been a great player. He comes up in the clutch when we need him and he's a great team player to everyone. Yankee fans have to admit that it's A-Rod that puts the scores on the board. Of course other players contribute runs and hit homers as well but A-Rod has really helped this team win games so far this season. To me I think that he is was a great addition to this team when he came to us in 2004 and now he's proving to us that he is great. His defense is amazing too. Yeah he makes a few errors once in a while but not every baseball player is perfect. I love A-Rod a lot and if he were to leave us at the end of this year then I can tell you honestly I will cry. He was just a new player when he came to our team but now he's part of the Yankee family. He is an amazing person and player. If you looked at his stats throughout the years they'll tell you everything you need to know about him. He is an amazing guy and he is capable of soo much and he is very talented. Oh and did I mention that I thought he was really hott....well I do....what can a girl say...lol...GO A-ROD!! GO YANKEES!!! =D

I am a die-hard Yankee fan. I love a-rod. I think he has gave the Yankees so much especially this season. He is getting clutch hits when he need them and he is the only one who is hitting home runs. I have disliked him sometimes to but I think he is a crucial part for the Yankees winning the world series this year :)

Hes a great athlete and may prove to be the greatest BB player ever.

Everyone should get over the fact that he makes 25 million to play each year.

I'm not mad at paul McCartney for making 100+ million a year to do nothing.

I don't really know what he's like in person. All I know is that I don't like him on the Yankees right now. The only way he can change my opinion of him is to put up the same kind of numbers in the playoffs as he does in the reg season.

Yes, he's a solid player and has done a lot for the team. It's a shame that he may skip out on the yanks like that but ill still like him because he is one of the best players of this time. even though i love a-rod i do think you should trade him if he's gonna opt out because that way you start to rebuild this team and get some players that will help you in the long run because who knows if they will catch the sox i hope we demolish them though.

Yeah, he's a good player. He tied albert Pujols record for home runs in April, and when he gets his head in the game he can be an outstanding player. The only problem that he has is that he looses focus to easily and when he finds out how to fix that problem he'll be unstopable.

He's great but he is ruining the fans appreciation of the game. 24, 27 or 30 million per year is incomprehensible to most people who are struggling to make ends meet. His contracts amount to what many a third world nation has as a GNP. Yes he is overkill, albeit a great player but he is a leading contributor to what is wrong with our society.

Yes.

Even when he was struggling I still liked him as a player.

Yes, it was a little frustrating when he is unconsistant but thats that makes you a fan.

You stick with you're team and players through good times and bad.

Although, I do respect a\A-rod but some of the things he has done off the field has been stupid.
