I do not know how the person that decided to prosecute this can sleep at night. This kid's life has essentially been ruined for a consensual act between two teenagers. I cannot believe that is being released to the public. It sounds like the people releasing it need to be prosecuted for distributing child pornography.

If you actually read, well maybe just paid attention to since you quoted the part I'm about to reference, the entire article you would have found that he was charged for "having oral sex with a girl when they were teenagers." So the 17 year old girl didn't get off free, there was nothing she could be charged on. Wilson was convicted of a law that "made consensual oral sex between teens a felony." Also this law has been since changed. I personally think 10 years is steep, but it was the law at the time, and like you said, He was stupid for taping it. Pretty damn stupid.

What a terrible story. I hope it's not true and just a rumor. If Georgia has a law like that on their books, then someone needs to get off their butt and take it OFF the books. And certainly if some egghead prosecutor tries to enforce it, as apparently in this case, the jurors and/or judge should be smart enough to dismiss the case on grounds that it's idiotic. And then put the prosecutor in jail for wasting everybody's time. Again, I hope this turns out not to be a true story.
P.S. I just went to Yahoo News and you're right. That really did happen. The D.A. who pushed this should truly be brought up on charges of showing child pornography, not to mention him using an archaic law to destroy a young man's life.

They didn't say the race of the girl, anyone want to make some guesses? I don't understand the logic of releasing the tape. Doesn't that victimize the girl twice, if she was truely a victim. I have a simple philosophy on statutory rape. If they are within the same age that they could attend high school together, then it shouldn't be a crime. To answer your question, yes, I did read the story.

The complaint was made while the statute was still in effect, then he was an adult, that's what the beef is about, it wasn't grandfathered in. Read it closer.
I don't agree with them at all, they're after a name in the news or after him personally because the Government is telling them what to do, they don't like it, he's a scape goat.
As for the tapes, they can pass them out legally to all parties in the case, this time something like 140 or so, the law or, thier law in that State says they must pass them out, the U.S. law says it's child pornography, one law (State) over rides the other (U.S.) they're again, using him as a scape goat.

I would say that was quite tacky on their part releasing it to the public. I would say that is porn. God, what do they do to murderers? Nothing probably.

Anybody who thinks this boy's punishment is just is insane. It is cases like this that prove how f*cked up our justice system is in America, on so many levels.
