If you've ever actually attended one of these functions, as opposed to living in mere theory-world, you would know that Catholic Church-sponsored family picnics DO NOT serve alcohol. Therefore, there are no drunks at any Catholic Church-sponsored family picnics. Second, what's unbiblical about live music? What's unbiblical about greasy foods? What's unbiblical about children's games, cotton candy, dancing, etc? There's nothing undogmatic about any of this. Fellowship with other Christians, in social settings such as Church-sponsored family picnics - especially for fund raising's sake - is a very Christian thing to do. I am a Catholic, and I have attended many Catholic family picnics, luncheons, and other family orientated gatherings. Not once have I ever seen a stumbling drunk at any of them.

Just avoid the priests. If you're a girl you have nothing to worry about. But being drunk and a catholic boy at a church picnic might be risky.

You only have to confess if you feel you've done something wrong. Personally, I think there's nothing wrong about drinking beer, and I'm Catholic also. Just follow the Golden Rule.

Nice try.

It's not wrong to consume alcoholic beverages - in moderation. Therefore, there is nothing wrong with the Church serving alcoholic beverages at one of it's functions.

It is wrong to abuse alcoholic beverages. If it is your intention to abuse alcohol and get drunk, your sin will not be the responsibility of those who serve the alcoholic beverages. It will be entirely the responsibility of you who drinks too much.

Therefore, when attending your Church's picnic, you best moderate your alcohol consumption, so that you do not get full-on drunk and commit sin.

As long as you share with the priests you should be O.K. But, then again, why take chances. Confess and ask your confessor if he had a good time, too!

If you know you have to confess after your sin then why are you going to the picnic.
