The first step to repairing this problem is to reset to your default theme first. Right click on your "desktop" and choose properties, then choose the themes tab and use the dropdown box next to the themes and select "Windows XP" then hit apply.
The second step it to turn "high contrast" off. Go to your "control panel" and select "accessibility options" then select the "display" tab. Tick the tick out of the "use high contrast" checkbox and hit apply. Your screen will now reset and all background colours and font stability should return immediately. If they do not return immediately then reboot and try again.

Hi, I don't have the answer, however, there is nothing wrong with the monitor cable or any other hardware.
If you find it very annoying, I would advise you to re-install windows. Obviously getting a friend who is quite knowledgeable in this field would be helpful. Yes I know, the hardcore programmers will be screaming out saying reinstalling windows isn't actually fixing it etc, but if it works, why do you care? Besides you should get a speed increase too, so it is beneficial. On the downside, you have to back up all your data on cd's or an external hard drive, but hey, atleast your computer should be fixed!!

Check and make sure the pins on the cable going from the monitor to the PC are not bent. Make sure the cable is connected properly, Then Check your Windows Display Settings by Right Clicking on the desktop and going to properties or go through the Control Panel to Display properties. Compare to the other computers settings.

this is a common problem sue, sometimes when you use another application or program it changes certain display properties(which most programs do)but unlike others,it dosent return them back to the original settings
this is probally why your settings have gone all haywire, but dont worry, theres a simple solution
the easist solution is to uninstall your display drivers(video drivers) and then reinstall them, preferbally with the most up to date drivers, however you can use the ones you allready have
however the most straight forward way is to go to the control panel of your graphic card(in nvidia its right click desktop>click nvida control panel.....in a.t.i its right click desktop>click catylyst control center)
then go to the main settings tab(or page) and at the bottom there will be a link to "reset defaults" click this, and if prompted click yes
other display adapters such as intel, matrox and s3 have similar control panels, and the same method applies
also check inside the case that your graphic card is securely fitted to the case, and that the monitor lead is correctly attached at both ends
i hope this helps
good luck sue

On an XP system, check the Accessibility settings under Control Panel.

Download and install Firefox and try it. This is obviously a browser setting issue.
If that doesn't fix it then check your display colour-depth settings (change it to 32 bit).

Check what level the browser is at on your system compared to the other one.
I would recommend the latest version of Firefox.
