Generally speaking, cell phones for children are "dangerous." (Primarily to the parent's credit rating if the kid runs-up a huge bill.) The only real exception to this that I've seen is the ones that allow the kid to call home and 9-1-1.
Now that generalisations are out of the way, a pay-as-you go phone is perfect. It teaches the child some responsibility, and gives a feeling of freedom. Also, if they run out of minutes, the phone won't work, except for 9-1-1.
For GPS, most cells now-a-days come with a GPS chip standard. Having a plan that allows you to access it, or a phone programmed to display the info can co$t a pretty penny.
Presuming you're "one of the good ones" (ie: use it when you have to, not just 'cause it's there), go for one of the units that has swappable face plates, and buy a couple different plates, that way when you're bored of a colour/style, you can change it with minimal fuss.

You might want to look at Disney. I have heard they have the best GPS abilities.
My daughter has had a cell phone since elementary school - a regular one. We just taught her how to use it. We only allowed calls to it, no texting or accessing the internet. She's 12 now and it has worked well.
Good luck! :)

She in all probability needs it specifically for the newness of having one, form of as a toy, particularly than to apply it to call human beings each and every of the time. i recognize it truly is why i wanted one whilst i became youthful. A cellular telephone is the form of trend accessory presently and just about each and every physique has one... I heavily in elementary terms recognize one grownup/teenager who does not have one. If it have been me i'd in basic terms get her a low value one, possibly in a cool shade or something with some video games on it, and in basic terms get a prepaid account and manage it so as that for the period of elementary terms particular numbers could be dialled from the telephone - like your cellular, your place, emergency contacts etc. Then she would have the ability to't pass nuts on it, and whilst she desires it she'll nevertheless have some credit on the account.

Someone without a car doesn't need a cell phone. As young as that age group is they can still rely on their parents phone. Anyway, try getting a prepaid one - they're the cheapest, you can find then in walmart or kmart or target.

If you've never had much experience with cell phones before, I suggest buying a prepaid phone. ^ MotoRAZRs can sometimes be prepaid, but they cost about $100
